I remain inspired by the faithfulness of God. “God is faithful,” my mom, Jeanette Robinson-Rogers would remind me often throughout my 63 years of life. I have found her statement to be true. So, when times change, when troubles come, or things get frustrating. I have put into practice a method learned from my family as an expression of our confidence in a faithful God. We love a good laugh! I find laughter and a good hard laugh to be an incredible antidote to overcoming fear and chasing away doubt!

I have learned that the gospel can be contemporized and made applicable to urban settings where injustice, suffering, and human flourishing is challenged. I am an urban dweller that has lived in West Philadelphia for 22 years and has served a congregation in Southwest Philadelphia for 20 years in pastoral leadership. My work in Philadelphia has included academic research and ministry initiatives too numerous to list. I am purposefully called to serve communities that have health, education, and unjust economic conditions. I can share from a variety of narratives that emerge from the daily grind of urban life which become a part of my sermonic preparation and preaching. There are certain things I have come to accept as the harsh realities of being black and male in our nation. I do qualify to say with earnest my writings are reflective of my state of mind along with a desire to understand the times from a Kingdom of God perspective. The lived experiences of racism, and various forms of social injustice that manifest into violent behavior in cities such as Philadelphia gives me great concern. I have found that writing creatively has empowered me to think out loud. My intentions are to advance the gospel in provocative ways. I am a firm believer that wrestling with words creatively can contribute to clarity of mind, clarity of mission, and clarity of purpose.

Thanks for reading my first suspense novel. I hope readers are left with a greater sense of faith. It brings me joy to explore creatively the beauty of God’s unfathomable love amid corrupt social and political dark forces!
